String of Hearts Quilt SAL - Week 5
Hello and welcome to the final week of the String of Hearts Quilt SAL! I can’t believe we’ve made it to the end. It feels like the SAL just started yesterday!
This week we are assembling the quilt top - just in time for Valentine’s Day!! This part is always the hardest for me since I am so close to the end. It feels like I’m basically done and I have to really give myself that spurt of energy to get over the last hump of the project.
To finish up your quilt, you’re going to be adding some border pieces. I recommend pinning these in place first before setting out on sewing those seams. It’s really easy for you to accidentally stretch your fabrics and end up with the ends not lining up. I even go so far as to do a couple tack stitches where my pins/clips are to really secure those points together. I’ve found this to be really helpful and prevent a lot of headaches…

Week 1: We will be picking out our fabrics this week. The cover quilt of String of Hearts is the original layout, but you can go totally scrappy with it! If you want to play around with colors in the quilt, you can do so on QuiltInk!
Week 2: This week is all about cutting our fabric.
Week 3: We will sew Heart Blocks this week.
Week 4: We will be finishing up the Heart Blocks and assembling the Heart Columns.
Week 5: We will be assembling the quilt top.
