I am very excited to have this new space to expand and grow into. And I am very happy that you stopped by for a read of my very first blog post EVER!

So what is Rose Petal Quilt Shop, you ask? Well, RPQS is a space I’ve designed for quilters (but really anyone who enjoys sewing!) to enjoy and find inspiration. All quilters and sewing creators, new and experienced, are welcome here! Whether you are about to sew your first stitch in your very first quilt (yay!) or you can whip up a quilt in a day with your eyes closed or you are just stopping by for a little quilty fabric goodness - I hope RPQS is a place you can come to fall in love with the art of textiles even more!

Here’s a little info about me: I am from Louisiana, but I am currently in big ole state of Texas. I have only been sewing for about 2 and a half years! I still consider myself a beginner. I don’t have a quilter in my life, so I was never really exposed to the art that is quilting. My first exposure was actually a recommended YouTube video! It was a Midnight Quilt Show video for Angela’s Scrappy On Point Triangle Quilt! I went from having no idea quilting existed to ordering everything I needed to make my very own scrappy quilt! This is what my very first quilt turned out like:

I made this quilt so fast! All those bright and colorful batiks made me really excited to get this quilt finished! (fun fact: When I was trying to learn as much as I could before starting this quilt, I thought people were saying “boutiques” as in quilt boutique quality fabric. It wasn’t until I was standing in the store trying to sound out BATIKS from the sign above the fabric did it hit me. face palm) I honestly didn’t think I had it in me! Many times have I said, “I can do that” after seeing a new craft type and it didn’t turn out exactly like I wanted it to. I thought this quilt was perfect, and I was hooked!

Feel free to share your “first quilt” story below in the comments! :)

So, what am I really gonna chat about here? Here on the RPQS blog I plan to talk about everything related to quilting and sewing - because that’s all I ever want to do and I know you guys are very accepting of that, right? ;) From my quilting space to my favorite tools to my current WIP (work in progress), it will all be discussed soon! If you guys ever have any requests, drop them in the comments below so I know what you all are wanting to see more of!

I think that’s it for now - I’m still trying to warm up my blogging fingers over here! If you ever want to chat with me one-on-one, you can reach out on my Instagram here or you can use the “Contact Us” button below to shoot me an email! If you would like to scroll through the fabric options for a little inspiration, you can click here!

Thank you for reading along and I look forward to talking with you all soon!!
